Him (27:8–9). The enemy whose defeat had been predicted (27:2) now rises against the psalmist, breathing out violence (27:12). Although the circumstances have clearly worsened and his earlier confidence has faded, the psalmist maintains his faith. In fact, whereas the first six verses were spoken about God, verses 7 through 12 are spoken to God. The psalmist feels separated from God but remembers that this is where his hope lies; thus he makes the seeking of God’s face his first priority (27:7–9).
